Window Frame Wall Art

I've lived in my house for close to a year now, I think it's time to commit to putting things on my living room walls!

Lo and behold, I found a poster at Hobby Lobby that both D and I love, plus, it matches our furniture perfectly! What is a girl to do with a pretty poster (without just framing it)?

DIY wall art, of course!!

One of my favorite DIY wedding projects was the seating charts.  I used old window panes that D and I found (in a barn!), painted them, and wrote our guest's names on them. They are rustic and original (and free!)

Window panes used at my wedding + a pretty poster =

Directions for DIY Window Art

1. First, clean the window frames. I used Windex and a window scraper to make sure all residue is removed.  I then lightly washed the panes to make sure the paint adhered. (You may need to sand a bit as well)

2. Measure the window spaces.

3. Paint the frame. I didn't tape on the inside, that's what my window scraper is for!

 4. While you are waiting for your window to dry, flip the poster upside down and measure the same size sections as your window.  Number them so you don't have to put the puzzle together when they are all cut out.

5. Cut out the sections that you just measured.

6. After the window is dry, scrape off excess paint (goes a lot faster than taping!)

7. Piece the sections of the poster into the window. To adhere the parts that wouldn't stay, I took small pieces of tape and adhered them to the wood on the back.

8. To hang on the wall, nail a couple picture frame hangers to the back.

Oh I love this! Your seating chart was fantastic and this is such a great way to incorporate a part of your wedding into your home decor!

That looks great! We wanted to do the exact same thing at our wedding but we ended up having too many tables to fit in our windows. It's fun that you could reuse the frames and make some great art!
