Why it's Best to be Blue

My favorite color is blue.

Maybe my fondness for this color is because it has the power to evoke so many different feelings and can change hats in various contexts. It can be energizing, calm, fun, cool, earthy, elegant, or just plain pretty.

Maybe it's because this color sings when paired with yellows, greens, or pinks.

Or maybe it's because of it's versatility- it works as a strong accent color or as a soft neutral.

Enough of me talking it up, let these photos convince you themselves...

Auction "Sale-ing"

Have you ever been to an auction sale?  If not, you need to go to at least one in your life. They are fun, frustrating, boring, and exhilarating at the same time.  Let me explain.

Fun because it's a DIY'ers blank canvas... it's like craigslist, but all in front of you at once!
Frustrating because people outbid you.  And it takes long. And people get annoying. And sometimes you get home and ask yourself, "why did I bid on this again?", or "dang it, I wish I woulda bid on that!"
Boring because it can take over 10 hours, and 9 hours and 48 minutes are spent waiting for the things you want.
Exhilarating when you you are in a bidding war and WIN!

Here were some items from this past weekend's auction sale. Is this a DIY'ers/collectors/antique lovers/decoraters dream or what?!

There were hundreds of awesome finds. I can't wait to share my upcoming projects with a few of our new goodies!

Parade of Homes

Yesterday I went to the Parade of Homes with a couple of friends who are in the process of building.  We got some great ideas (and not so great ones) but it seemed after we went through about 5 of them, everything seemed to look the same.  Most of the homes seemed to have the same features.... open concept layouts...modern backsplashes...sleek, built in fireplaces...granite or high definition laminate... extra large cabinet hardware.

We have the same kitchen cabinet hardware!

Vessel sink with stainless steel/glass backsplash. Although I love the look, I think it will date quickly and the stainless would be hard to keep clean.

 Notice the large hardware.

Love this light fixture!

Blue is my favorite color, so I was drawn to this vessel sink.

Lots of tiled accents.  I can honestly say I am not a fan.

I bought new white doors for our bedroom and bathroom, along with brushed nickel door handles. This house makes me want to get brushed bronze knobs/hardware instead!
