There are so many inspirational images in Martha Stewart's Halloween magazine that make my head turn with ideas. The following project is a spin-off from a photo I caught my eye- beautiful gourds with candles inside of them.
On a recent outing, I bought 3 of these candle holders at a garage sale for $1.00 and miniature pumpkins from our local farmer's market.
Put the two together, and I turned them into this.
To make it...
Place the glass ring over the pumpkin and trace with a pen.
Cut out the area you traced with a sharp knife and spoon out the middle (making sure the bottom is flat).

Insert a votive candle and push the glass into the pumpkin (you may have to trim a bit extra off the pumpkin to make it fit).
Place the pumpkin on the stand and you're done!
The flickering glow and mild scent of pumpkin will make you love autumn even more.
